This novel is not very hard to understand, but it is also not easy to finish it in such a short time. In fact, I do not finish all the content in chapter four.
Through these content, chapter Yliane impresses me most. In this part, the author recall a women named Yliane and her husband or in another word, lover. The relationship between this couple reflects the general nexus of a woman and a man. In the book, Ylian’s lover is intermittently a cad, however, she still chooses to be with him. This illustrate that the male idea of love is to get a woman into a state of secure dependency, but the female idea of love is servile.
From my point of view, this connection between male and female is common not only in United State, but also in China. Women are supposed be obedient and follow every order, which is made by her father or husband. I do not think that this is a good custom because each human being deserves equal right, they cannot be controlled by anyone. In think that is the reason why
narratorchoose to come to Tsau, because Denoon wants to creat a utopia world. In Tsau, we can figure out that women are in charge of this place and this is exactly the difference between Tsau and other places in Africa. Comparing to Yliane, one thing is obvious that Tsau is a utopia world.
